SURIGAO DEL SUR – Harmonious relationship leads to great progress.
The municipality of Bayabas, considered as the aquaculture producer in Surigao del Sur, has just added some community projects to improve the quality of lives of the people of the municipality. Through the partnership of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Bayabas and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program, a number of projects are set to be implemented in different barangays.
Through the Kalahi-CIDSS program, four (4) barangays will enjoy a total grant of Php 3,110,600 which will fund the construction of community-identified projects which will address the needs of the community.
The community projects set for construction right after the symbolic groundbreaking will be the 50-linear meters protection dike project in Barangay Magobawok, construction of Day Care Center in Barangay La Paz, construction of 136-linear meters drainage canal in Barangay Balete, and the construction of day care center in Barangay Cagbaoto.
According to Mayor Maria Clarita Garcia-Limbaro, the community projects in Brgy. Magobawok and Brgy. Balete would address perennial problem of the residents in certain puroks having flooding issues caused by heavy rains, while the day care centers will “support early childcare and development” for children in Brgy. La Paz and Cagbaoto.
During the groundbreaking activities, several key partner-stakeholders of the program were present, namely Mayor Limbaro, representing the LGU of Bayabas, Barangay Captains, community volunteers and representatives from the DSWD.
Indeed, through harmonious relationship, great progress starts. With the never-ending support of the different stakeholders, Community-Driven Development (CDD) will be properly utilized, leading to the inclusive growth and development of the communities in Bayabas. ###MARKO DAVEY D.
