BUTUAN CITY – These words from the renowned author Helen Keller were made true by all the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS)
workers in Caraga after gracing the Mid-year Program Review and Evaluation Workshop (PREW) last July 28, 2017 at Almont Inland Resort. The annual event goes with the theme, “Encouraging CDD Workers Towards Improving Quality of Life of Partner Local Communities”, purposely to celebrate the victory achieved during the first semester implementation, and also to empower Community-Driven Development (CDD) workers.
The event was a blissful celebration for the attendees coming from the different areas all-over the Region. It was filled with individuals wearing classy dresses and dashing suits – ranging from pastel, army green and black themes. It highlighted the series of presentations coming from the Program’s prominent staff.
First, the 1st Semester Consolidated Regional Accomplishment Report on all the modalities was clearly presented by RMES Edward John Ty. Second, an overview on the procurement of Technical Service Providers through Technical Assistance Fund was given by RPO Engr. Esphar Lamela indicating a “20% add-on support on the previous salaries.” Third, a presentation on Land Surveying and Annotation Process was discussed by one of the few geodetic engineers, Engr. Nikko Paje.
Lastly, a break-out session per discipline was done to evaluate the 1st semester accomplishments, to resolve the gaps in Sub-Project Completion Report (SPCR) submission, and to set the Individual Performance Contracts (IPCs) for 2nd semester.
Development itself cannot happen easily but it is with unity that success is possible. As OIC-Regional Director Mita Chuchi-Gupana Lim said in her directives read by the Regional Program Coordinator Ramil Taculod, “We
recognize and understand every struggle and hardship that you face; but together, we will be able to overcome the pressures and challenges along the way and it would be a satisfying feeling that we are a tool in helping our poor communities.”
With the significant accomplishments and management-set directives, the CDD workers were motivated to work double time to achieve remaining targets for the year. As worded by the long-term battlecry of Kalahi-CIDSS, “Sama-Samang Pagkilos nang May Malasakit” – always carrying within their hearts and minds that they should do it together, and not alone.
