drillButuan City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other government agencies joined the recently held National Disaster Consciousness Month Celebration with the theme “Pag Alerto, Malayo sa Peligro.”

The long-month celebration kicked-off on July 6, 20101 with a mass at the PNP Regional Office, followed by a motorcade around the city and an earthquake drill at Saint Joseph Institute of Technology (SJIT).

Moreover, other activities to be conducted relative to the long-month celebration are the on-the-spot drawing contest and quiz bee on climate change, which will be held in Butuan City and Surigao City, respectively.

 

With the Presidential Executive Order No. 137, July is observed as the National Disaster Consciousness month, an activity conducted annually in order to heighten the awareness of the public with regard to disaster prevention, preparedness and mitigation. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
