BUTUAN CITY – A total of 46 mother beneficiaries of 4Ps and 15 day care children joined the synchronized breastfeeding worldwide activity in Barangay Doongan, Butuan City.

The activity was carried out by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in line with the celebration of World Breastfeeding Day on October 8, 2010 in partnership with the Children for Breastfeeding and the Nurturers of the Earth, the organizations concerned with protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding.

Ms. Leila Perez, 4Ps Link Officer of Butuan City, oriented the mothers about the world breastfeeding day celebration.

Mr. Michael John Andohuyan , SWO III for Agusan del Norte and Dinagat Islands, gave a lecture on the importance of breastfeeding and its advantages and disadvantages.

The mothers expressed their gratitude to have participated in this activity because they were elated to know that there is this special day for the lactating mothers.

Ms. Golda V. Pocon, SWO IV and focal person of the activity, thanked the barangay officials of Doongan for their support that contributed to the successful conduct of the activity. # # # (Social Marketing Unit)
