jabonga sea-kBUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga region handed over more than P1.3 M to the beneficiaries of the Self-Employment Kaunlaran Program in Jabonga, Agusan del Norte on July 1, 2011, during its 90thCharter Day celebration.

Mrs. Angelita B. Amista, Operations Division Chief who represented the DSWD  turned over three cheques to Jabonga Mayor Glicerio M. Monton, Jr. who also gave it to the president of each association.

The Sunflower SEA-Kaunlaran Association (SKA) composed of 30 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiareies received a total amount of P300, 000.00 as capital seed fund. The EGE SKA composed of 25 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries also received P250, 000.00. The members of both SKAs are residents of Barangay Poblacion. The members will use the money for various livelihood projects such as food vending, e-loading, sari-sari store, buy and sell of fruits and vegetables, fish vending, buy and sell of coconut.

 

The Jabonga SEA-Kabayan (Level ll) composed of two SKAs (Libas SKA and Bangonay SKA) whose members have fully paid the Level l loan received additional assistance of P 815, 000.00. Through this fund the beneficiaries can now engage in Micro-Enterprise, Home Improvement and Basic Shelter projects.

As one of the core social protection programs implemented by the DSWD, SEA-K Program is a capability building program of the Department and local government units which aims to enhance the socio-economic skills of poor families through the organization of community-based associations for entrepreneurial development.
