BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga Region has culminated its 6^th year of Poder Project implementation on September 28, 2011 at a hotel here.  Poder 6 funded four (4) municipalities in Caraga region. Implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the project was funded by the Spanish government through Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID).

The culmination program was attended by the local chief executives of the beneficiary municipalities – Mayor Candelario  J. Viola , Jr. of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, Mayor Glenn M. Plaza of Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur, Mayor Rosalinda C.A. Penera of Sta. Monica, and Vice Mayor Simplicia P. Pedrablanca of Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.

Lyca Sarenas, AECID Caraga Regional Technical Officer represented the funding agency while Mr. Orson C. Sta. Cruz, Community Process Specialist, represented the National Project Management Office of DSWD. Mercedita P. Jabagat, regional director for the Caraga region and Assistant Regional Director Mita G. Lim also attended the activity.

Poder 6 funded a total of 25 completed sub-projects composed of 10 school buildings, 11 health stations and 4 day care centers. # # # (Social Marketing Unit)
