BUTUAN CITY – On September 21, 2012, the Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted a Regional Parents Education Congress (RPEC) to couples from the different national government offices in Caraga region held at Goat2geder Hotel and Restaurant, Butuan City.
The said activity was conducted in line with the celebration of the National Family Week celebration with the theme “Ensuring Work-Family Balance.” The Department invited speakers from different agencies to discuss some of the topics that would help strengthen family ties. Ms. April Rose Yamson from the Department of Health (DOH) discussed the health risk to marital relationship, Ms. Rutchie C. Saluta and Janus Anthony Raganas of the Population Commission (PopCom) tackled the choices in planning a family while Rev. Fr. Rex Cassion, parish priest of Bayugan City discussed how to enhance the relationship between parents and children.
One of the highlights of the activity is the workshop on managing time with family, where participants cited ways on how to bond with their children despite their busy schedules.
Family Week is being celebrated yearly as it seeks to strengthen family unity and relationships through meaningful celebration and promotion of Filipino values. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
