The Regional Inter-Agency Committee on Filipino Family (RIAC-FF) chaired by the Department of the Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga spearheaded the celebration of this year’s National Filipino Week celebration on September 20-27, 2013.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Unity Across Generations: A Strong Family, A Strong Society. The Filipino translation is Nagkakaisang Henerasyon: Matatag Na Pamilya, Matatag na Lipunan.”
“The theme aims to bring all social groups, particularly vulnerable groups, and individuals into the political, social, cultural and economic structures of a society so that they can participate in the decision-making process and improve their access to opportunities.
The activities conducted by the RIAC-FF during the weeklong celebration included radio plugging, holding of family day program, Pantawid Pamilya ‘tagisan ng galing,’ regional parents’ education congress (RPEC) focused on the Empowerment and Re-affirmation of Paternal Abilities Training (ERPAT) with Pantawid Pamilya father leaders.

Meanwhile, DSWD Caraga’s family day celebration featured the participation of children and adult through games, mini-concert and boodle fight.

In her message, director Minda B. Brigoli stressed the importance of family’s unity in building a strong society. She said that every day should always be a family day.

Presidential Proclamation No. 60 dated September 28, 1992 and Executive Order No. 241 dated June 9, 1995, declared the observance of the National Filipino Family Week on the last week of September and every year thereafter. ### (Social Marketing Unit)
