Regional Community Development Specialist Esterlita Villamor orients the participants of the forum about the program features of KC-NCDDP.

Butuan City- Seventeen (17) municipal local government units (MLGUs) assented on May 23, 2014 at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort their 2014 implementation of KALAHI CIDSS- National Community Driven Development Program (KC-NCDDP).

This expression of support was personally spoken by the representatives of the MLGUs during the 1st batch forum on KC-NCDDP conducted on that day by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga.

MLGUs who signified partnership with DSWD Caraga for KC-NCDDP are the following: Alegria, Barobo, Buenavista, Cagwait, Carmen, Hinatuan, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Las Nieves, Lianga, Marihatag, Remedios T. Romualdez, San Francisco (AdS), Santa Josefa, Santiago, Tubod, and Veruela.

The support of these eligible LGUs to this undertaking is essential for the expected on-board of KC-NCDDP, since this activity is primarily aimed at orienting the target partner LGUs on the implementation arrangements of the Program.

Local chief executives, vice mayors, sangguniang bayan for social services, municipal social welfare and development officers (MSWDOs), municipal accountants/budget officers, municipal local government operations officer (MLGOOs), and municipal planning and development coordinators (MPDCs) are the invited participants of the forum.

Seven (7) mayors in the persons of Hon. Candelario Viola Jr.(Hinatuan), Hon. Jasmin Monton (Jabonga), Hon. Avelina Rosales (Las Nieves), Hon. Roy Hegino Sarmen (Lianga), Hon. Ernie Ceniza (RTR), Hon. Zenaida Lim (Santiago), and Hon. Cristina Hemady Arcillas (Tubod), personally graced the forum and discussed with their staff about their actions to take upon enrolling in this national program.

These municipalities were given two (2) weeks by the regional office to decide and to prepare necessary documents for enrollment purposes.

KC-NCDDP is set for implementation from 2014 to 2019 in municipalities with high poverty incidence and those affected by the super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). In Caraga, a total of 46 municipalities are covered in the kick-off of this Program this year.

The overall objective of the KC-NCDDP is to provide the poor communities access to basic services and increase their well-being in more inclusive local planning, budgeting, and implementation. ###(Eunice G. Montaos/Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
