Butuan City- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga workers converged to support the Labor Day Job Fair sponsored by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XIII held at Robinsons Place, Butuan City on May 1, 2014.
This is an annual activity of the DOLE to celebrate the holiday for all the Filipino laborers or employees. This is conducted to help the many Filipinos specially the Caraganons who are still seeking for jobs.
During the activity, one post was reserved for the Field Office to receive applications from interested applicants for vacant positions at KALAHI CIDSS- National Community Driven Development Program (KC-NCDDP).
A total of 210 applicants lined-up to submit application requirements for the area coordinator, deputy area coordinator, municipal finance analyst and community empowerment facilitator positions which were announced vacant at the Office for the onset of the KC-NCDDP in June 2014.
Job-seekers who flocked the event, most especially those who are Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries, were assisted by the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) workers through free ID pictures. SLP workers served 259 individuals.
Free printing of application letters and resumes were also served by the staff of the Pantawid Program in the query desk that they posted near the stage of the mall’s Atrium hall.
The Department’s efforts during the activity were well-recognized and acknowledged by the DOLE and the jobseekers.
As reported, there were 1, 744 applicants who graced the Job Fair from whom 198 were hired on-the-spot, including four (4) Pantawid beneficiaries.
DSWD and DOLE are national agencies which share cohesive partnership in delivering quality services to the Filipino citizenry and in helping eradicate poverty in the country. ###(EGM)
