Butuan City – The Listahanan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) leads in the on-going special validation from May 21 – June 6, 2014 for the indigent senior citizens and those families in need of special protection.
In Caraga region, there are 16,251 beneficiaries of which 7,924 from Social Pension and 8,327 from Modified Conditional Cash Transfer – for Families in Need of Special Protection (MCCT-FNSP).
“The special validation is very advantageous especially those beneficiaries who are poor yet not included in the Listahanan database. Also, we can give the monthly stipend to those indigent senior citizens who are really deserving of our program.” Sarah Rose Salingay, Focal Person of Social Pension said.
“In fact, 3,738 social pensioners who are already in the Listahanan database will receive the monthly stipend of P 500.00 for the second quarter. Listahanan is very valuable to us holding a program like Social Pension because we really want to serve our indigent senior citizens.” she added.
Likewise, MCCT-FNSP beneficiaries will be included in the regular Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
Dante S. Rosales, Regional Focal Person of Listahanan together with the National Household Targeting staff monitor the Area Supervisors and Enumerators in the conduct of special validation solely for SocPen and MCCT-FNSP beneficiaries who are not in the database of Listahanan. “We are closely monitoring our field workers during the validation as we want to keep our database that is Sigurado, Kumpleto at Totoo,” Rosales said.
Listahanan aims to ensure that the identified poor families who are not yet in the database will be assessed thoroughly. It also assures the other Social Welfare and Development (SWD) providers the guarantee that their resources are equally distributed to potential beneficiaries and to have the opportunities to improve the quality of their lives.
