Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte – Six (6) projects of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) in Gigaquit were inaugurated on August 4, 2014.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli together with SLP Head Roy Serdeña, Regional Monitor Kerwin Gabasa of DSWD Central Office and Municipal Mayor Carlos M. Egay, Sr. led the activity.
The six livelihood projects amount to a total of Php 884, 218. Grocery store, meat processing, swine fattening and production, communal garden, rice production and Poinente SKA Mini grocery store are the projects managed by 406 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries respectively.
In his welcome message, Mayor Egay underscored the commitment of the Department for the implementation of the program to his constituents.
Dir. Brigoli challenged the beneficiaries to manage their business properly and productively. She hoped that the 406 Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries to be successful entrepreneurs in coming years. “You are our inspiration! Kayo ang aming Bida! she emphasized.
“I am so thankful to the Government for giving us livelihood projects which are of great help in our daily needs. Our lives have changed since SLP helped us in creating and managing our respective businesses.” Villaflor SKA President, Margarit A. Canda testified.
