Tubod , Suriago del Norte –  The Sustainable Livelihood Program ( SLP ) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development ( DSWD) Field Office Caraga granted Php 1.080-million-worth of microenterprise projects to the five newly funded  Self-Employment Assistance –Kaunlaran Association (SKA) at the municipality of Tubod, Surigao del Norte.

In a symbolic check turn – over ceremony held on October 24 at the Executive Function Hall, Tubod, Surigao del Norte, together with the Local Government Unit Officials, DSWD Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli led in the distribution of cheques to the five SKAs namely: Lake Mahucdan with Php 240, 000.00; Mountain View with Php 210, 000.00; Oasis of Santan with Php 200,000.00; Blooming Sampaguita with Php 200,000.00; and Bougainvilla with Php 230,000.00 cheque- worth.

“ The said amount will enable the five associations  with 108 members to start the establishment of their microenterprise projects.” Director Minda B. Brigoli said.

Brigoli added that the funds will consequently aid the members who are also Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program beneficiaries to earn additional income thereby improving their economic status as well as the status of their well – being.

The cheque is already at your hand, the government provides you with the needed capital to start your egg production and rice retailing so with your hog raising and general merchandise, your chosen livelihood or businesses. It’s for you to be accountable of it.” RD Brigoli added.

Hon. Marilyn Balgona, Tubod Sangguninang Bayan Board Member challenged the beneficiaries to prove to the government that they are worthy of the assistance given. She also thanked the SLP for the funds provided.

Nga anaa kanamo ang partisipasyon , transparensiya and accountability sa among mga proyekto na among hawiran. As one of the SKA presidents, we will commit ourselves to strive harder for our association to grow and prosper. Within us are the participation, transparency, and accountability of the microenterprise projects we will be handling.” Mrs. Nida Labadan, Mountain View SKA President assured.

Sustainable Livelihood Program is a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of program participants. It aims to enable the participants to manage sustainable micro-enterprises or link them to locally available jobs that will enhance their access to basic social services and improve their standard of living. ###( DSWD FO Caraga)
