Butuan City-The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga fast-tracks family food pack preparations for Eastern Visayas per instruction from the DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman.
“As of this reporting period, a total of 6,802 family food packs are available stockpile while 10,155 are expected to be completed with rice tonight at DPWH Warehouse in Barangay Tiniwisan, Butuan City. On-going repacking is being conducted until this time for possible augmentation of relief goods to Eastern Visayas Region,” RD Brigoli shared.
In the region, DPWH Regional Equipment Service in Surigao City and DPWH Warehouse in Tiniwisan, Butuan City serve as the packing stations of all relief goods to be augmented in the Visayas Region. 276 registered volunteers, Community volunteers, Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries, DSWD Staff, Students, Staff from the Office of Congressman Fortun and Armed Forces of the Philippines Staff (AFP) extend time to realize Caraga’s target to arrive with 50,000 family food packs for Eastern Visayas.
“Caraga plan to transport the goods asap from Butuan to Borongon, Samar the moment that transport vessel will be given clearance to travel,” said Regional Supply Officer Ramel Jamin.
“Caraga Team composed of the DSWD, OCD, DOH, AFP, and LGUs will also provide augmentation to Eastern Visayas for psychosocial support, medical assistance and for search and rescue operations,” Brigoli expressed.
In Caraga, Typhoon Ruby has already affected 238 barangays, comprised of 16,045 families with 67,519 individuals. Most of the affected populations are still placed under pre-emptive evacuation.
“We now have a total of 6,111 families or 24,668 individuals remained in every respective evacuation centers (ECs). As of 2pm today, a total of 9,213 families or 39,420 individuals have returned to their respective homes,’ Brigoli added.
