DSWD field staff are setting up the stage to be used in the Funtawid Livelihood Day program

Siargao Islands- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga is expecting the attendance of 1,500 plus partner-beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in today’s Funtawid Livelihood Day activity to be held at Cloud 9, General Luna, Siargao Island, Province of Surigao del Norte.

The beneficiaries are excited to meet Honorable Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman of DSWD who will be gracing the activity and will give her message during the program this afternoon.

The event is of the same day with the opening of the 21st Siargao International Surfing Competition of which Secretary Soliman is the invited guest of honor to open this year’s contest.

Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli said that the Funtawid Livelihood Day purposes to celebrate the efforts towards self-sufficiency and positive change of the Pantawid Pamilya families.

“This activity will also provide a venue for income generation to our Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participants since they will display and promote their quality products to the public most especially to the tourists who are witnessing the surfing competition,” said Brigoli.

“Wide array of SLP products will be showcased by the nine (9) municipalities of Siargao Islands,” she added.

Other expected attendees of the event are Congressman Francisco T. Matugas, Governor Sol F. Matugas of Surigao del Norte, and Mayor Jaime P. Rusillon of General Luna.  ###(Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
