Tandag City – A total of 367 family food packs amounting to Php153,523.44 were distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga as assistance to the victims of the fire incident which recently happened in the city at Purok Kalipay, Barangay Bongtod.
Each family food pack contains six (6) kilos of rice, eight (8) pieces noodles, eight (8) canned goods, and eight (8) pieces of 3-in-1 coffee.
Also distributed were 258 plastic mats which are used by the victims who are temporarily staying at Tandag City Gymnasium and Bongtod Elementary School since their houses were totally burned down.
Medical staff from the City Health Office conducted medical check-up and consultation inside the Tandag City Gymnasium.
The assessment of the fire incident’s damage extent to each household is currently being done by the LGU.
Information from Ms. Baltazar Quijada, DSWD city link officer, bared that 179 of the said victims are partner-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.
As of reporting time, 358 families or 1,582 individuals who are victims of the fire incident are currently staying at the two (2) evacuation centers.
DSWD-Caraga’s Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) team and City Action Team (CAT) are closely coordinating with the local authorities in Tandag for the updates as to the status and welfare of the said fire victims.###(Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
