The secretary of Our Lady of the Snow Parish takes charge in distributing the family food packs for the farmers who are affected by Dry Spell in Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte

Butuan City– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Caraga would like to extend its gratitude for the parishes, Social Action Centers (SAC) and Red Cross Team who are helping in the distribution of the family food packs intended for the farmers who are affected by Dry Spell in the region.

“We are very thankful for all the parishes, SAC and members from Red Cross who extend their hands in distributing the food for the farmers who are affected by El Niño,” said Assistant Regional Director for Operations Mita Lim.

“With this, you gave them hope amidst these calamities knowing there are people ready and committed to serve,” she added.

As per report submitted from Department of Agriculture (DA)-Caraga and the respective Municipal Agriculture Office, a total of 3,795 farmers from 3 provinces in the region are affected.

The following cities/municipalities are in the list: Buenavista, Carmen (AdN), Las Nieves, Santiago, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Cabadbaran City, Butuan City, Lanuza, Carmen (SdS), Madrid, Cantilan, Hinatuan, Gigaquit, and Taganaan.

The Department fast tracks the delivery of family food packs for those municipalities and cities greatly affected by the drought. The farmers will receive four (4) family food packs equivalent to 24 kilos of rice, 32 tins of tinapa and corned beef/beef loaf, 24 pieces of noodles and 24 pieces of 3-in-1 coffee amounting to Php1,640.00 per family.
