RFC Aldie May Andoy explains to COMREL Head Genevieve Chua the usefulness of Listahanan’s Database in alleviating poverty in the region.

Butuan City – As the region is preparing for the regional launch of Listahanan’s  2nd round assessment result and Regional Profile of the Poor this coming June, more stakeholders show interest in using the said database.

One of this is the Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation located in Brgy. Taganito, Claver, Surigao del Norte. It is the second nickel mineral processing plant in the country.

According to THPAL Community Relations Head Genevieve Chua, they allocated 1.5% budget from their operating cost intended for Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) that aims to develop the community as well as to enhance the lives of human being.

Sa susamang paagi, makatabang kami nga makalingkawas sa ka-probehon ang mga mulopyo diri sa Claver. (We have social responsibilities in our community through offering various social protection programs. With this, we can help uplifting their lives from poverty),’’ said Chua.

“Kini usab ang rason nga kinahanglan gayud namu ang database sa Listahanan aron mapaingon sa mga tawong nanginahanglan ang among mga programa. (And this is the reason why we need the Listahanan’s database so that deserving poor families can benefits in our social programs),’’ she added.

In addition, Regional Field Coordinator Aldie May Andoy said that THPAL is willing to sign the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as requisite for data sharing and utilization of Listahanan’s database.

DSWD continues to encourage more Local Government Units (LGUs) and National Government Agencies (NGAs) which allocated millions of fund for social program to use the Listahanan’s database in alleviating poverty in the country.

The NHTS-PR also known as Listahanan, is an information management system that identifies who and where the poor nationwide. It provides complete basic information on poor households who will become beneficiaries of the different anti-poverty programs and services. ###(ABEGAIL R.
