“Ang pagtabang sa SLP nga programa para sa katawhan maoy dako nga bili sa amoa mga benepesyaryo
(The help of SLP for the people is of great value for us beneficiaries),” shares Jhona Dagatan, 39, a Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) participant from Brgy. Lucena, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

Having ice cream business as their only source of livelihood, the family is grateful for availing the Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) in which they used the cash fund assistance for an additional capital in purchasing starter kits such as machine and a stainless tube for their ice cream making business. The starter kits have made the production more convenient and efficient compared to the manual operation.

The family was able to dispose 8-10 tubes of ice cream using the newly bought machine and stainless tube that resulted to the increase of their income. Before the intervention, Jhona’s ice cream business disposes only 2 tubes of ice cream and a total net income of P600 daily. Today, the business’ total net income grow into P4000 everyday.###(SLP/Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
