BUTUAN CITY– The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga staff received distinct national awards during the recently concluded DSWD PRAISE Awards or Program for Rewards, Awards, and Incentives for Service Excellence held on February 24, 2017 at the Landbank Auditorium in Ermita, Manila.

Some of those who receive the awards are the following: OIC Regional Director Mita Chuchi Gupana-Lim (Loyalty Award-40 Years in Service); Supervising Administrative Officer/Supply Unit Head Ramil Taculod  (Gawad HUWARAN-Mahusay, Wasto at Responsableng Lingkod Bayani); Disaster Unit Head Caroline Catalan (Gawad Kalihim); Kalahi-CIDSS Sub-Regional Program Coordinator Juvy Echavaria (Gawad Kalihim); and Training Specialist Maria Teresa Ole (Most Dynamic RLRC Focal Person).

The Gawad Kalihim Awards serves as the special recognition given by the Office of the Secretary to Contract of Service (COS) workers who unselfishly served the Department for 15 years and more despite the fact that their tenure is not considered government service. It was the first time during DSWD’s annual Anniversary celebration that such recognition was given to long-time workers.

Secretary Judy Taguiwalo who personally handed the awards said that the COS workers do not enjoy the same benefits as regular or permanent employees, but their valuable contributions help the Department attain its strategic goals.

“The Gawad Kalihim Awards is an affirmation of their dedicated service to the Department,” said Taguiwalo.

Around 74 COS workers, 16 from the different offices of the DSWD Central Office and 58 employees from Field Offices I, II, IV-A, V, VI, VII, IX, X, XI, XII, Caraga and NCR received this award.

This year’s anniversary theme is “DSWD@66:  May Malasakit.”

During the event DSWD-Caraga Regional Learning Commons (RLC) also got the 2nd place in the National RLRC Innovate award###(RYAN MALBAS TAPAYAN/Social Marketing Unit/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
