BUTUAN CITY – In observance of this year’s Women’s Month celebration, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Caraga conducted the 4th Korambusan Activity last April 13, 2018 at the Field office’s compound, here.

Initiated by the Field Office, Korambusan is an institutionalized activity spearheaded by the Gender and Development – Technical Working Group (GAD-TWG) and participated by the regional office-based employees.

The word Korambusan is derived from the word “Korambus” which means pooling or sharing of resources, talents, and skills of all staffs to celebrate this special day. This activity aims to pay tribute to the women’s efforts on extending their support and valuable contributions to the successful implementation of the Department’s programs and services.

In the 4th conduct of this celebration, there were various activities highlighted. Firstly, “Break the Chain”/1 Billion Rising Dance Revolution, a form of dance advocacy to end violation for women and children. Second, Pop Quiz which highlights the prominent empowered women. Third, a Poster Making Contest focusing on the theme of the Women with Disability Day, “#ProgressToSuccess: Babaeng May Kapansanan sa Pagbabago Manguna at Manindigan Ka”. Fourth, Installation of booths per division and program management offices which displayed goods – clothing and food. Lastly, Spoken Poetry Contest that focused on the importance of women in the society.

The DSWD Caraga staff actively participate in the Break the Chain/1 Billion Rising Dance.

Part of the program proper was the recognition of the winners of the said contests.

Part of the program proper was the pronouncement of the winners of DECA 3x Short Film contest during the 2018 Adoption Consciousness Celebration. Spearheaded by the Adoption Resource and Referral Section (ARRS), this contest was participated by DSWD Caraga internal staff. This is to promote the legal adoption, illegality of birth certificate simulation and community participation to report improper adoption practices. The winners of the contest  are as follows:

1st Place – Capacity Building Unit

2nd Place – Social Marketing Unit

3rd Place – Financial Management Unit
