BUTUAN CITY- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-served sectors took the limelight in the illuminated balangay float entry of the DSWD-Caraga in the Lamdag Float Competition, one of the highlights in Butuan City’s Balangay Festival celebration on May 19, 2018.

The Persons with Disability (PWD), elderly, Poor (beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino and Sustainable Livelihood Program), women, children, indigenous peoples (IPs), etc. were represented during the event as they were showcased in the illuminated balangay float of the Field Office that was paraded in the heart of city on the night of the festival.

OIC Regional Director Mita Chuchi Gupana-Lim said that the Field Office welcomed the invitation of the city’s local government unit, and expressed that it is honored and excited to have joined because it has become a venue to intensify its advocacy drive on the DSWD’s service brand-Ang DSWD ay May Malasakit.

“DSWD-Caraga’s float portrayed the agency as a balangay boat carrying in its journey the served sectors,” said Lim.
