Butuan City- Students from different schools all over Caraga showcased their knowledge and skills in the recently concluded Social Welfare and Development Learning Network’s SWD L-Net) 3rd Quiz Bowl held at Robinsons Place Butuan City on September 27, 2019.
Seven school divisions in Caraga laid their best bets on the line for the Elementary and Secondary Quiz Bowl contests. The representatives qualified after a month-long quiz bowl competition for the Schools division level.
The theme for the SWD L-Net quiz bowl, “Institutionalizing Knowledge Sharing thru Caraga SWD LNet” gives emphasizes in the importance of knowledge management and sharing of good practices from among the members of the network towards strengthening social development and protection.
This year’s SWD L-Net Quiz Bowl came with a plus, with the conduct of the 1st Spoken Poetry Contest, which also fielded 7 contestants, who battled it out with their prepared pieces which was based on the theme.
The Activity was graced by Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mita Chuchi G. Lim, who is also the Network’s chairperson. In her opening message, she highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing and collaboration in promoting accessible, relevant and quality Social Welfare and Development (SWD) capacity building programs to stakeholders and intermediaries.
Prior to the contest proper, partners from the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) or German Development Service, presented their latest project, in partnership with the Network, which is the the development of the “Do No Harm” quick check application which will be pilot-tested thru the Caraga SWD L-Net on October 15-16, 2019.
The SWD L-Net is a nonprofit learning network that is composed of members from different organizations such as NGAs, NGOs, LGUs, Academes and individuals who are engaged in social development and social protection.

2nd Place: Caraga Regional Science High School – Surigao City Division (Jerome Tristan D. Sendiong, Karl Andre M. Jao, Lance C. Suan, Coach: Marife C. Curada)
