Five winners all over Caraga bags DSWD Field Office Caraga Photo Challenge that ran last June 03, 2020. The DSWD Field Office Caraga Photo Challenge was created in celebration with the 2020 World Bicycle Day, June 03.

 

The online challenge encouraged every-Juan to ride their bikes to work and take a snap of their journey. It aims to inspire everyone in developing an interest in cycling, as the same time, promotes a healthy lifestyle and help reduce carbon footprint in a simple way. The five winners received limited edition DSWD Field Office Caraga merchandise.

 

Aside from this, the department also took part in the 2020 World Bicycle Day celebration through a biking session in the morning of June 03. This was participated by more than twenty (20) field office staff and was led by OIC-Regional Director Ramel Jamen.

 

According to United Nations, the World Bicycle Day was declared to encourage people to emphasize the use of bicycle as a means of fostering sustainable development, strengthen education— including physical education, promoting health, preventing disease, promoting tolerance, mutual understanding and respect, and facilitating social inclusion and a culture of peace.

 

With the current Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, public transport are suspended in most regions in the Philippines under community quarantine, making cycling as one of the major solutions by the commuters to lack of public transport.
