The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted an Online Caravan for Caraga’s Local Council for the Protection of the Children (LCPC), which the agency chairs, via Zoom on August 3 – 7, 2020.
The online caravan served as the venue to revisit the LCPC functionality, discuss about children’s issues and concerns regarding the COVID 19 pandemic, and plan on how to address the issues and how to enhance the local monitoring system and data management on the welfare of children.
Resource persons for the said caravan are from the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), National Child Protection Working Group (NCPWG), UNICEF Philippines, Child Fund Philippines, World Vision Philippines, National Economic and Development Authority Caraga, Department of Interior and Local Government – Caraga, Philippine National Police Caraga, and Patrol Woman Cristy Sano (Province of Dinagat Islands). They were on hand to discuss and share their expertise on the above-mentioned subject matters.
To have a more conducive venue for the online caravan, the schedule was done per province – August 3- Agusan del Norte, August 4- Province of Dinagat Islands, August 5– Agusan del Sur, August 6- Surigao del Norte, and August 7- Surigao del Sur.
DSWD FO Caraga ensures that the welfare of the Caraganon children is one of the top priorities of the Agency in its programs and services. DSWD FO Caraga is also encouraging everyone to be more loving, caring, and protective to the children especially in addressing their different needs in this time of the pandemic.#
