On November 11, the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the DSWD Field Office turned over eight livelihood projects to different associations in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte. The Agency was joined by the Provincial Local Government Unit of Agusan del Norte, represented by Agusan del Norte Governor Dale Corvera (3rd person from R), and the Local Government Unit of Nasipit, represented by Mayor Enrico Corvera (4th person from the R).

NASIPIT – Eight associations in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte received different livelihood projects amounting to PHP2,697,676.30 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program on November 11, 2020.

These livelihood projects comprise four general merchandise stores; two agri-vet supply stores; one food processing center; and one table, chair, tent rentals.

The aforementioned projects were distributed to the various associations in the municipality, namely: Barangay 5 SLP Association, BAE Cubi-Cubi TCT Association, Negosyo Asenso of Cubi-Cubi Association for Barangay Cubi-Cubi, Hiniusang Kusog sa Aclan SLP Association, Women’s Agri-vet SLP Association of Barangay Aclan, Santa Ana Entrepreneurs SLP Association, Santa Ana Pangkabuhayan SLP Association, and Cassava Saging SLP Association of Barangay Santa Ana.

In total, the municipality of Nasipit has a total of 556 SLP program participants at present.

During the activity, Agusan del Norte Governor Dale Corvera and Nasipit Mayor Enrico Corvera reiterated that the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Nasipit will allocate PHP1, 200,000 to support and strengthen the implementation of SLP and other livelihood programs in the municipality.

This commitment is also stipulated in the memorandum of agreement between DSWD-SLP and LGU Nasipit.

Also present during the activity were Municipal Social and Welfare Development Officer Aiko Haya, municipal staff, and barangay officials.

The Sustainable Livelihood Program is one of the core-poverty reduction programs of the DSWD which aim to empower and capacitate people in marginalized communities by providing them with various livelihood economic opportunities.#
