DAPA – In its relentless efforts to serve more individuals and families in rural communities, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dapa in support of the construction of the Dapa Livelihood Center, on September 8, 2021.

The signing of the agreement was led by Municipal Mayor Elizabeth Matugas and SLP Fiduciary and Audit Concerns Focal Reynard Roi Cabusao (on behalf of OIC-Regional Director Ramel F. Jamen). Surigao del Norte Governor Francisco Matugas and Dapa Vice Mayor Marlon Coro served as witnesses during the inking of the MOA. Sangguniang Bayan officials were also present during the activity.

Funded through the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), the Dapa Livelihood Center is a 190 sq. m infrastructure project located at Sitio Daru, Barangay 2, Dapa that will serve as the new home for the livelihood projects of four SLP associations in the municipality.

SLP associations that will enjoy the proposed livelihood center are as follows: Subangan Daylight Store SLPA, Ten Paint Center and Supplies SLPA, Dose Mini Mart SLPA, and Cabatuhan Rice Trading SLPA.

With the support and assistance of LGU Dapa, the DSWD-SLP eyes to complete the project on October 30, 2021. Both parties aim to accomplish the livelihood center before the year ends so that the associations can already transfer and start their operations.

Aside from the provision/donation of the 190 sq.m lot by the LGU of Dapa, Mayor Matugas also pledged her full commitment to the realization of the project as it is her desire to serve the residents of Dapa.

Surigao del Norte Governor Francisco Matugas (1st person seated on the L) and Dapa Vice Mayor Marlon Coro (1st person seated on the R) served as witnesses of the inking of agreement.

“It is my greatest desire to serve the people of Dapa and lead them to doors of opportunities. The local government unit of Dapa will ensure that this project will become a reality,” Matugas said.

Prior to this event, a groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by the agency and the local government unit at the project site last August 23, 2021.

Aside from the DSWD, regional directors and officials from other national agencies also took part in the activity as it was also Matugas’ State of the Municipal Address.
