Dapa – A marketing agreement was forged between the San Roque Ayog Farmer Irrigators’ Association and the Surigao del Norte District Jail Annex-Dapa (SDNDJA), through DSWD’s Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program on October 1, 2021, in Dapa, Surigao del Norte.
The EPAHP Program aims to help community-based organizations (CBO) in the region increase their income and play a part in achieving food and nutrition security in the country, thus the said partnership between the Irrigators’ Association and SDNDJA.
Present during the signing of the agreement were SDNDJA-Dapa Jail Warden JINSP Vincent Jomini Orcullo and San Roque Ayog FIA President Crisologo Porta.
The agreement would ensure that the San Roque Ayog FIA, through the assistance of the National Irrigation Administration, would have a regular target/consumer for their products such as rice, eggs, and a variety of vegetables. The SDNDJA, will now be the primary consumer of the said products, which will be utilized and consumed by the persons deprived of liberty in the said detention center.
After the marketing agreement signing, the DSWD EPAHP will continue to monitor the sales earned by the San Roque Ayog FIA, through a report that shall be produced and submitted by NIA. Moreover, the DSWD EPAHP aims to conduct a capacity-building activity that will be attended by the same IA and other associations to capacitate and equip them with the necessary skills further.
In addition, the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology (BJMP) Caraga expressed their goal to have all jail centers in the region forge a marketing agreement with other CBOs to show their utmost support to the implementation of EPAHP.
In the next weeks, another signing of marketing agreement will also be conducted between the Surigao del Norte District Jail Center and an Irrigators’ Association based in the province; Surigao City Jail Center and an Irrigators’ Association located in Surigao City; and Surigao del Sur District Jail Annex Cantilan and a Sustainable Livelihood Program association based in the Cantilan municipality.
DSWD, through the EPAHP, will continue to ensure convergence with and among communities and NGAs, and NGO/CSOs/People’s Organizations to help mitigate hunger, ensure food and nutrition security, and reduce poverty in urban and rural communities, including marginalized communities.
