“Emergency Operations Centers (EOCs) are now deactivated” announced by the DSWD Regional Director Ramel F. Jamen during the conducted hybrid Regional Disaster Response Committee (RDRC) Coordination Meeting for the Typhoon Odette Response Operation on March 9, 2022 at Balanghai Hotel, Butuan City.
Based on the Memorandum no. 28 series of 2022 released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the deactivation of the response clusters is due to the following considerations: decreasing number of evacuees and closing of most of the evacuation centers, and decreasing requests for assistance from the regional DRRMCs.
In her situational report, Melanie Juan, Chief of the Disaster Response Management Division, showed that, to date, out of 396, 911 total of affected families, 326,481 or 82% of which was provided Family Food Packs (FFPs) amounting to Php169,813,568.85. Additionally, a total of Php165.9M worth of Non-Food Items (NFIs) was also provided to 64,744 households with totally damaged houses. Augmented NFIs have the following breakdown: 14,123 of Hygiene Kits amounting to Php24M, 4,216 of Family Tents amounting to Php69.1M, 4,696 of Kitchen Kits amounting to Php3.4M, 12,949 of Sleeping Kits amounting to Php10.3M, 11,252 of Laminated Sacks amounting to Php41.1M, and 7,841 of Family Kits amounting to Php18M.
DSWD as the Vice-chair for Disaster Response underscored that the monitoring and responding to the needs of the affected population will continue despite of the deactivation of EOCs and sub-EOCs. The said monitoring will still be handled by the respective agencies per cluster and reporting will still follow for the necessary update of the committee.
