A total of 180 participants of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) from Tagbina, Surigao del Sur, received livelihood projects from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga through a project turnover held on March 6, 2025.

The program awarded ₱4,050,000.00 worth of livelihood projects to various associations and individual beneficiaries. The recipients include the Sakay sa Tagumpay Santa Fe SLP Association, Empowered Magsaysay SLP Association, Mabungahong Lago SLP Association, Abante sa Kalambuan Maglambing SLP Association, Sulong Santa Maria SLP Association, Madasigong Ugoban SLP Association, and Masaganang Greenfield SLP Association, along with 30 Zero Hunger individual participants.

“Through this program, we have been given the opportunity to acquire a decent livelihood that not only supports our daily needs but also empowers us to strive for greater success. It has given us the confidence to work harder, dream bigger, and create a better future for ourselves and our families,” said Menchie Cambarihan of the Abante sa Kalambuan Maglambing SLP Association.
SLP Caraga Special Projects Officer (SPO) Corina D. Capin expressed her enthusiasm and optimism for the program participants, emphasizing that these livelihood projects are more than just economic opportunities. They will also equip beneficiaries with the skills, resources, and confidence needed to build a sustainable future for themselves and their communities.
“This ceremony is more than just a simple turnover—it represents new beginnings, opportunities to grow, and the chance to build a brighter future. With these initiatives, you are not only gaining a source of income but also the skills, resources, and confidence to stand on your own, support your families, and uplift your communities. This is a step toward self-sufficiency, resilience, and long-term success, and we believe in your ability to make the most of it,” SPO Capin stated.

Furthermore, the program officially handed over to LGU Tagbina a copy of Paglambo: Stories of Change, Growth, and Empowerment, a collection of inspiring narratives showcasing the transformative journeys of SLP beneficiaries. Additionally, Gama Caraga, a carefully curated compilation of locally crafted products made by SLP associations across the region, was presented—highlighting the participants’ creativity and resourcefulness.

The program is set to further strengthen its implementation through an upcoming series of turnovers across the region. These initiatives aim to broaden SLP’s impact, reaching more communities and equipping beneficiaries with the necessary resources, skills, and opportunities to achieve economic empowerment and self-sufficiency. By continuously rolling out these projects, the program reinforces its commitment to sustainable development, ensuring that more individuals and associations gain access to viable and long-term livelihood solutions that will improve their quality of life and contribute to the overall progress of their communities.
