As part of the participation for the International Women’s Day on March 8, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, joined in the 2022 Women’s Summit held at Balanghai Hotel and Convention Center, Butuan City.

PSD Chief and GAD Focal Person, Jessie Catherine B. Aranas, together with the RGADC members from DSWD participated in the One Billion Rising Advocacy Dance of the National Women’s Month Celebration.

As an initiative of the Caraga Regional Development Council’s Regional Gender and Development Committee (CRDC – RGADC), this year’s women’s summit brought together hundreds of empowered women from different government and non-government agencies, partner-stakeholders, private sectors, including DSWD FO Caraga, represented by Protective Services Division Chief Jessie Catherine B. Aranas together with DSWD RGADC members.

This year’s summit aims to provide women access to services and help them be empowered. Thus, simultaneous exhibit and trade fair (food and non-food products), provision of different services such as National ID registration, free medical laboratory tests and information dissemination booths, were put in place for the participants to enjoy.

Aside from the anbove-mentioned activities, learning sessions were also carried out during the one-day summit to enable women to learn more about digital marketing and become successful entrepreneurs in the future.

The annual summit also highlighted women’s achievements by awarding successful and empowered women in Caraga who braved different challenges and advocated women empowerment despite the threat of the pandemic.

As the month-long celebration of NWM continues, the campaign to call for concrete, sustainable and inclusive actions towards gender equality was intensified by DSWD and its partner-organizations.#
