The NCSC Commissioner and Chairperson together with the MSWD Officer, handed over the certificate of recognition along with the cash grant.

As the Centenarian Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) FO Caraga continuously deliver grants to the seniors who have reached 100-year-old, the Commissioner and the Chairperson of the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC), were able to join one of the payouts and personally handed over the cash grant to one centenarian in Sta. Monica, Surigao del Norte (Siargao Islands) on March 10, 2022.

“We are hoping that Nanay Donday could avail the in-progress bill granting 1 million pesos to the seniors reaching 101-year-old,” Commissioner Reymar Mansilungan of the NCSC expressed gleefully in front of the centenarian and her family, during the payout.

 

Born on December 24, 1921, Nanay Donday turned 100 in 2021. The family of Nanay Donday could not help but be overwhelmed of the grants they received. “We are so privileged to have been visited by the NCSC personalities. Thank you so much for your time spent with us. And the grant, this will surely be for Nanay’s needs,” Ma. Lina S. Baclaan, the daughter said.

 

“We are here to celebrate life portrayed by Lola Donday now. Seniors are the pillars in shaping and upholding the Filipino values and skills. Encouraging all the seniors to pass on their skill to their children so as to preserve them. God bless Lola Donday and Sta. Monica,” Atty. Franklin Quijano, NCSC Chairperson said.

Aside from the cash grant, Nanay Donday also received the letter of Felicitation from Philippines’ President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Certificate of Recognition from the Field Office Caraga, and a cheque.

 

The awarding was also attended by the Local Government Unit of Sta. Monica, spearheaded by Mayor Fernando N. Dolar and Vice Mayor Arwena Dolar, OSCA Focal Person, MSWD Officer, local seniors, and Barangay officials.

Centenarian grant is anchored on the Republic Act 10868 or the Centenarian Act of 2016, which entitles all Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, to receive a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines and a “centenarian gift” worth Php100,000.
