In support to the observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga capped its month-long celebration on July 28, 2022 at the Event Center, SM City of Butuan.

“May the fruits of the month-long celebration remind us the importance of promoting resiliency among our communities. The NDRM celebration may be coming to a close, yet the essence of commemorating this every year would further cement our gains and pave the way in living up the notion of resiliency.” – Ramel F. Jamen, Regional Director, DSWD Field Office Caraga said in his opening message.

A series of competitions transpired for the month-long observance such as LGU Photo contest, Quiz Bowl for Elementary Learners of Butuan, E-Recycle Mo!, and Songwriting competition open for Local Government Units (LGU), elementary learners of Butuan and musically-inclined individuals in Caraga.

 

During the culmination program, winners of the said competitions were awarded with cash prizes, plaques and certificates.

LGU Photo Contest

1st Place – Loreto, Agusan Del Sur

2nd Place – Barobo, Surigao Del Sur

3rd Place – Mainit, Surigao Del Norte

 

Quiz Bowl for Elementary Learners

1st Place – Timber City Academy

2nd Place – Butuan Central Elem. School

3rd Place – Fr. Sibayan Elem. School and San Vicente Elem. School

 

E-Recycle Mo!

1st Place – Timber City Academy

2nd Place – Pedro D. Duncano Nat’l High School

3rd Place – Mahay Integrated Secondary School

The winners of the contests together with the partner-agencies during the NDRM culmination at SM City of Butuan.

The annual observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month is in line with Executive Order No. 29, mandating the government to celebrate July of every year through the conduct of activities focusing on building disaster resilience.

The culmination program was graced by DSWD Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul Parajes, Disaster Response Management Division Staff headed by Division Chief Melanie Juan, and its partner-agencies; Office of the Civil Defense, Philippine Information Agency, and Department of Education.
