Prior to the release of the grants, the recipients of the livelihood assistance are being verified for the last time to ensure that they are the beneficiaries listed on the payroll.

About 1,028 families in different towns in Surigao del Sur received the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga. This livelihood intervention was funded through the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program.

Families in Lianga, Marihatag, San Miguel, Tago, Cortes, Lanuza, Carmen, Carrascal, and Cantilan, Surigao del Sur were given livelihood assistance ranging from Php10,000-Php15,000, depending on the livelihood they proposed.

These families have been identified as eligible to receive livelihood assistance from the DSWD-SLP because their livelihoods have been severely affected during the implementation of the community quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Aside from having existing livelihoods, these families also belong to the informal sector.

Staff from the DSWD-SLP checks the identification card submitted by the beneficiary before releasing the grant.

Through the livelihood assistance, these family beneficiaries are expected to use the grant in restoring their livelihoods or establish a new small business to recover from the economic loss they suffered during the peak of the pandemic.

Prior to the distribution of LAG, these families were thoroughly validated by the SLP Regional Program Management Office after being identified and endorsed by the local government units to ensure that they met the eligibility requirements.
