A DSWD staff releases the livelihood grant to a beneficiary in San Jose, Province of Dinagat Islands on September 29, 2022.

To help the recovery of micro and small enterprise owners, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga provided the Livelihood Assistance Grant (LAG) to 992 low-income families in the region on September 28 to 30, 2022.

LAG is a recovery program initiated by the government to help families from the informal sector whose livelihoods were severely affected by the implementation of the community quarantine during the height of the pandemic. The DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program leads the implementation of this project.

Below are the cities and municipalities that have received livelihood assistance with the corresponding number of families served and amount disbursed:

Cabadbaran City – 45 families (Php675,000)

Nasipit – 25 families (Php375,000)

Kitcharao – 112 families (Php1,180,000)

Jabonga – 157 families (Php2,355,000)

Tubay – 67 families (Php1,005,000)

Libjo – 25 families (Php375,000)

Loreto (Province of Dinagat Islands) – 27 families (Php405,000)

Basilisa – 29 families (Php435,000)

Cagdianao – 25 families (Php375,000)

Dinagat – 25 families (Php375,000)

San Jose – 43 families (Php645,000)

Tubajon – 26 families (Php390,000)

Before releasing the grant, a DSWD staff counts the cash assistance to ensure that the amount given is correct.

Program beneficiaries received an amount of Php10,000 or Php15,000 depending on the livelihood project that they proposed. The grant will be used by the beneficiaries to establish a new livelihood activity or restore their businesses.

Prior to the release of grants on September 28 to 30, grants were also released in other municipalities during the earlier weeks of September such as San Luis, Rosario, Veruela, Bunawan, Barobo, Bayabas, Cagwait, Claver, and Bacuag.
