The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program, distributed Livelihood Settlement Grants to 69 former rebels of Agusan del Sur on November 25, 2022, at Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

A total of Php1,380,000 was distributed to 69 former rebels as Livelihood Settlement Grant in the province of Agusan del Sur by the Department of Social WD Field Office Caraga on November 25, 2022.

Funded by DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program, the provision of a Php20,000 livelihood grant to each former rebel is part of the Department’s implementation of Executive Order 70, Series of 2018. This grant will be used by the beneficiary to establish livelihood and economic activities in their communities.

The eligible former rebels were identified by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Philippine National Police (PNP) and endorsed to the DSWD-SLP with complete Joint AFP-PNP Intelligence Committee (JAPIC) certifications. JAPIC is the committee under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) responsible for verifying the identity of the former rebels upon their surrender.

Present during the release of grants were SLP Regional Program Coordinator Renante Abendanio, Agusan del Sur Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Razel Montemor, AFP 26th Infantry Battalion Commander Sandy Majorocon, PNP Police Captain Allan Roy Villegas, and Acting Provincial Director Police Col. Jovito Canlapan.
