Hinatuan Mayor Shem Garay (4th person from the right) joins the turnover of livelihood grants to the Bitoon Sustainable Livelihood Program Association, amounting to PhP375,000 which will be used by the association to establish a consumer store and vegetable production project. The said grant is funded under the Sustainable Livelihood Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office Caraga extended livelihood assistance to two associations in Hinatuan and San Agustin, Surigao del Sur, through its Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) on January 12 and 13, 2023.

Bitoon SLP Association of Barangay Bitoon, Hinatuan received PHP375,000 which will be used by the association to establish a consumer store and vegetable production project, while the Isla Verde SLP Association of Barangay Britania in the municipality of San Agustin acquired PHP450,000 for their consumer store project. Both livelihood aids were given to the associations in a form of checks.

The Isla Verde Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Association of Barangay Britania in San Agustin, Surigao del Sur received a livelihood grant amounting to PhP450,000 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, through the SLP, which will be utilized to start a consumer store.

The provision of livelihood assistance is part of the DSWD-SLP’s implementation of the Zero Hunger Program-Program Convergence Budgeting – a national convergence project of the DSWD-SLP, DSWD Risk Resiliency Program-Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, Cooperative Development Authority, and Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute.
