Hinatuan Mayor Shem “Titing” Garay graces the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the rice corn project of one of the associations in Barangay Pocto, Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga distributed livelihood projects to fourteen associations in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on March 23, 2023.

Out of the 14 projects implemented by the Sustainable Livelihood Program, twelve of these were funded under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA), while the two projects were subsidized by the Zero Hunger Program Convergence Budgeting project modality.

During the turnover, Hinatuan Mayor Shem “Titing” Garay expressed his support and commitment to DSWD-SLP in their program implementation in the municipality. Mayor Garay also shared that the Local Government Unit of Hinatuan will create a local technical working group that will assist the program participants to ensure their project’s sustainability and success.

SLP Association President Marky Ajoc shares some words of gratitude after receiving the key of responsibility from the DSWD Field Office Caraga.

“Rest assured [we have a] message of support and commitment sa tanang projects sa SLP. (Rest assured, we have a message of support and commitment to all our SLP projects.) I will be creating a technical working group that will monitor the associations and provide assistance should they need it in their operations,” Mayor Garay said.

PAMANA and Zero Hunger Program Convergence Budgeting Project are special project modalities implemented under the Sustainable Livelihood Program that primarily aims to reduce poverty at the grassroots level by providing socio-economic opportunities that will capacitate, empower, and uplift the living condition of individuals and families that belong in poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged sectors.
