4Ps parent leaders, who participated in the Women’s Welfare Week: Discussion of Timely Topics at the Pavilion, Watergate Hotel in Butuan City, had a group photo together with RPMO staff after the said activity on March 21, which is in line with the National Women’s Month Celebration.

DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) has always been in the forefront in advocating women’s rights. Over the years, 4Ps has always been conducting timely activities and discussions about women’s welfare to its partner beneficiaries, not only during its regular Family Development Sessions, but also in other activities.

Thus, for this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration (NWMC), 4Ps Caraga hosted the Women’s Welfare Week: Discussion of Timely Topics (WWW DOTT) to the parent leaders and barangay officials on Tuesday, March 21, at The Pavilion Watergate Hotel, Butuan City.

“Atong tumong nga pinaagi niini nga activity, mamahimo kitang gender watchdog… ug maoy motabang sa pag-monitor ug pag-responde sa nagkadaiyang klase sa pagpangabuso sa komunidad (The objective of this activity is that we will be gender watchdog – ones that will monitor and respond to different forms of abuse in the community),” Assistant Regional Director for Operations Jean Paul S. Parajes said during the activity.

Among the topics discussed are the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act, Safe Spaces Act, the 4Ps Act, the roles of the national police in responding to gender-based violence (GBV) incidence, and the roles and services of Butuan City Social Welfare and Development Office in responding to GBV incidence.

One of the aims of the activity is that participants should know how they could serve as GBV watchdogs in their communities.

The resource persons during the WWW DOTT were CHR Caraga Legal Division Chief Atty. Gerlyn V. Gamolo, PNP Police Major Junalyn Suan, and CSWDO PSD chief Queen Dian Recimo.

Meanwhile, 4Ps Caraga also spearheaded activities in line with the NWMC such as “Purple Your Corner” Contest among its provincial, city, and municipal operations offices; and spoken poetry contest.
