DSWD Field Office Caraga awards three centenarians from the Province of Surigao del Sur; Two from the municipality of San Miguel—Nanay Helaria Malong and the late Tatay Martin Maca, and one from the municipality of Tago—Nanay Rosalia Pontillo, on March 15, 2023.

Social Pension Program Management Focal Person Rachel B. Bade acknowledged the efforts of the family in taking good care of the senior citizens which is the biggest factor why they reached this milestone.

The Centenarian Program through Republic Act 10868 otherwise known as the Centenarians Act of 2016 entitles all Filipinos who reach 100 years old and above, whether living in the Philippines or abroad, a letter of felicitation from the President of the Philippines, a posthumous certificate of recognition if the beneficiary is deceased, and a “centenarian gift” worth Php 100,000.00.
