In their commitment to support the implementation of the programs and services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Madrid led by Mayor Juan Paolo Lopez took part in the turnover of four livelihood projects to associations residing in conflict-vulnerable and afflicted areas, just recently.

Under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), each association received a project with a total cost of PhP300,000. These projects were personally proposed by the associations to cultivate community participation.

These are the associations that have been assisted by the DSWD-SLP with their corresponding projects: Bagsac Womens Association Association – Purchase of Farm Inputs; Bayogo Agro-Forestry Multi-Purpose Cooperative – Purchase of Farm Inputs; Buyakan SLP PAMANA Association – Establishment of Hog-Fattening; and San Roque SLP PAMANA Association – Purchase of Tents, Tables, and Chairs.

During the turnover, LGU Madrid came in full force as Mayor Lopez was also joined by Vice Mayor Philip Urquia and members of the Sangguniang Bayan. The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and the Local Technical Working Group members also came to witness the said activity and show their support to the associations.

Mayor Lopez expressed his gratitude to the Field Office headed by Regional Director Mari-Flor A. Dollaga and assured that the LGU is always ready to collaborate or assist the Field Office in implementing social protection programs and services in Madrid. He also gave pieces of advice to the program participants of SLP and motivated them to always aim for their projects’ sustainability.
