The National Program Management Office (NPMO) and Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of the KALAHI-CIDSS held a mission visit to assess the impact of the KALAHI-CIDSS Program implementation in Socorro, Surigao Del Norte on May 23, 2023.

Socorro Municipal Mayor, Hon. Riza Rafonselle Taruc-Timcang together with the KC Area Coordinating team (ACT) welcomed the visitors to their humble municipality, has been implementing subprojects under the KALAHI-CIDSS program for 19 years already.

“Taman sa magpadayon ang KALAHI-CIDSS, magpadayon sab ang supporta sa LGU (Until the KALAHI-CIDSS program will be implemented, the LGU of Socorro will continue to support the program),” Mayor Taruc-Timcang said in response to the presentation of Jezon Romano, Project Development Officer of the NPMO, on the different objectives and goals of the program.

During the visit, different completed sub-projects were visited by the team, headed by Ms. Didith Bosoen, Project Evaluation Officer from the NPMO, and Community Development Officer Elsa Montemor from the RPMO.

A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) together with the Community Volunteers(CVs) and BLGU of Brgy. Pamosaingan was also done on May 24, 2023, which highlighted the learnings and experiences of the community in the program’s implementation.

Both the NPMO and RPMO were thankful to the support of the Municipal Local Government of Socorro, and are hoping for a stronger partnership that will help the community grow and become empowered citizens through the use of the Community Driven Development (CDD), utilized in the program’s implementation.
