The KALAHI-CIDSS National Program Management Office (NPMO) and the Regional Program Management Office (RPMO) of DSWD Field Office Caraga were welcomed in Brgy. Pamosaingan, Socorro, Surigao del for the community subproject visit and Focus Group Discussion (FGD).
The main purpose of the said visit is to hear the stories of volunteers, and the Barangay Officials, learn from the best practices of the community in the implementation of the program, and revisit the impact of the program to the community. This way, program-implementers will be able to ensure that the program will continue to empower communities.
The FGD was spearheaded by the Didith Bosoen, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED) Head (from NPMO) who openly discussed the pros and cons of the subprojects that were implemented and completed by the community. Pamosaingan alone had successfully established and maintained 8 subprojects under the program.
Subprojects of Barangay Pamosaingan includes:
- Construction of Concrete Pathway
- Construction of 1 Unit 3 Classroom School Building

- Construction of 40 Linear meters Seawall
- 600 linear meters concrete pathway, (2-meter Concrete width, 1-meter shouldering both sides)

After visiting all the subprojects in the Barangay, Jezon Romano of the NPMO expressed his genuine happiness upon seeing that all 8 subprojects were fully maintained and are still being used by the community. The community volunteers also shared their best practices in the years of service that they had given to KALAHI-CIDSS which were fully noted by both RPMO and NPMO.
After the FGD, an exit conference was then held at the Municipal Hall together with the Mayor of Socorro, Hon. Riza Rafonselle Taruc-Timcang. Mayor Taruc-Timcang expressed her appreciation to the program.
“Ang naka nindot sa KALAHI-CIDSS kay grabe ang involvement sa community. Naa sila’y sense of ownership sa mga SPs (What I appreciate of the program is that there is great involvement among community members. This way, they have a sense of ownership of the sub-projects)),” the Mayor said.
The result of the visit only proves that after 20 years of KALAHI-CIDSS implementation, the established subprojects still continue to help the communities in providing their basic needs and will continue to serve the generations to come.
