The Sustainable Livelihood Program Regional Program Management Office and Surigao del Sur Cluster 2 Provincial Operations Office meet with Lingig Mayor Elmer Evangelio on August 1, 2023, to discuss the program. This was the first consultation dialogue conducted by the program.

In its unwavering commitment to capacitate poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities and improving their socio-economic conditions by helping them engage in thriving livelihoods, the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga conducted a series of consultation dialogues with the local government units in the region which began on the first week of August 2023.

This activity is part of the SLP’s goal to bring sustainable and effective livelihood while enhancing the capacities of its program participants. At the same time, the dialogue paved the way for the program handlers to discuss changes in SLP’s implementation guidelines, provide implementation and partnership updates, address challenges and concerns encountered in the locality, and share best practices and innovations regarding livelihood projects.

Starting on August 1 up to August 16, the program has already been able to meet with the local chief executives, representatives, and city/municipal social welfare and development officers of the following cities and municipalities:

The Program also met with three provincial, and local government units in the region, namely: the Provincial Government of Agusan del Norte, the Province of Dinagat Islands, and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office of Surigao del Norte.

Further, the SLP Regional Program Management Office and the Provincial Operations Office aim to visit all LGUs included in its target areas of implementation to ensure that the LGUs are informed and knowledgeable of the program’s activities and plans in their respective areas.
