The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Caraga, released cash assistance to micro rice retailers in Butuan City, Surigao City, Tandag City, and San Franciso (Agusan del Sur) on September 14, 2023.

Each qualified beneficiary received PhP15,000 as part of the Economic Relief Subsidy (ERS) of the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program. Recipients of this assistance are identified and certified by DTI.

The Marcos administration’s provision of cash assistance is an effort to assist micro-rice retailers affected by the implementation of Executive Order No. 39, which stipulates price ceilings on regular and well-milled rice in the market.

Further, the SLP-ERS is a collective effort of the DSWD, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
