The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, through the Sustainable Livelihood Program, provided livelihood grants and turned over civil society organization accreditations to 68 associations in the province of Agusan del Sur on November 8, 2023 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Prosperidad.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), successfully handed over livelihood grants and civil society organization (CSO) accreditations to 68 SLP associations of Agusan del Sur on November 8, 2023, at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Patin-ay, Prosperidad.

The program turned over a check amounting to PhP21,600,000, distributed among the SLP associations serving as their seed capital fund to establish the proposed livelihood projects.

On behalf of the program participants, Bayugan Dos SLPA President Teresita Binguillo expressed their gratitude to the DSWD-SLP, the Provincial Government of Agusan del Sur, and local government units for providing them with an opportunity to thrive and a source of income.

Bayugan Dos SLPA President Teresita Binguillo expressed her gratitude to the DSWD-SLP and Provincial Local Government of Agusan del Sur for the assistance extended to them.

Aside from the associations, ten (10) individual residents also acquired PhP15,000 as livelihood assistance from the program. Under the individual referral project component, the program extends livelihood assistance to these beneficiaries that can help uplift their living conditions. Further, these individuals are primarily walk-in clients or endorsed by the Office of the President or other government agencies. Before providing assistance, the grievance focal or development officer conducts an initial interview to assess if the client can receive livelihood intervention from the SLP. If eligible, the client’s name is cross-matched with the database of the Field Office to check if they are a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or surveyed by the National Household Targeting System or Listahanan and later administered with the SLP Means Test.

An individual receives PhP15,000 as livelihood assistance from the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

After receiving the assistance, the clients shall present official receipts of their purchases for their preferred livelihood projects to ensure proper utilization of the seed capital fund given to them. (Social Marketing Section/DSWD Field Office Caraga)
