The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN-OCHA) paid a courtesy visit to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, on January 22, 2024, to coordinate the implementation of its Enhancing Resilient Communities (ERC) flagship initiative.

DSWD FO Caraga Director Mari-Flor Dollaga, along with Disaster Response Management Division Chief Melanie Juan, Policy and Plans Division Chief Aldie Mae Andoy, and Social Worker Officer III Angelbert Casimillo, welcomed UN-OCHA’s Field Coordinator Sapia Taulani.

Dir. Dollaga expressed the Field Office’s unwavering support for the said initiative, as it also resonates with the Agency’s commitment to strengthening community resilience. The said commitment reinforces shared dedication to creating lasting positive changes for the communities in Caraga.

The ERC flagship initiative aims to put people’s priorities, needs, rights, and capacities at the center, emphasizing a commitment to fostering community resilience.

This initiative is set to empower communities in regions 5, 8, and Caraga by February 2024. Identified areas for pilot implementation in the Caraga Region are Surigao City, the municipalities of San Francisco and Bacuag in the province of Surigao del Norte, and Libjo in the Province of Dinagat Islands.
