The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) joins the Regional Multi-Sectoral Forest Protection Committee’s (RMFPC) 1st quarter meeting at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Training Center, Ambago, Butuan City on March 26, 2024.
During the meeting, DSWD Field Office Caraga Assistant Regional Director for Operations, Jean Paul Parajes underscored the importance of community involvement and the urgent need to implement measures supporting forest protection.
Rutchel R. Molino, the Regional Focal Person for the Risk Resiliency Program, introduced to the committee the DSWD’s Project LAWA at BINHI, or the Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished, as a component of the RMFPC’s convergence strategies.
DSWD is one of the members of the RMFPC and the Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation-Disaster Risk Reduction (CCAM-DRR).
DSWD, DENR, and other NGAs aim to explore additional avenues for collaboration and leverage their network of members to ensure more inclusive interventions in forest protection.
