The landslide situation in Barangay Siana, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga swiftly mobilized in response to the landslide incident on May 11, 2024, in Barangay Siana, Mainit, Surigao del Norte.

 

266 families have sought refuge in the evacuation centers, with 25 houses reported as destroyed. These figures are continuously rising as more Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) seek shelter in response to the incident.

Field Office Caraga ensured that affected families received immediate assistance in the form of food and non-food items. Items distributed today are 3 family food packs (FFPs) each; a sleeping kit; a hygiene kit; a family kit; and a kitchen kit.

 

Meanwhile, the team visited the evacuation centers and joined the Office of Civil Defense in conducting damage assessments to identify existing needs and address any emerging needs.

 

As of May 21, 2024, DSWD FO Caraga has delivered the following items; 981 FFPs; 327 family kits; 327 sleeping kits; 327 kitchen kits; 327 hygiene kits; and 45 modular tents.

 

Moreover, the Agency continuously monitors the situation and closely coordinates with the local government unit of Mainit to monitor additional needs and address them promptly.
