“DSWD Programs Like AICS Are a Big Help to Those in Need”

These were the words of Adela D. Lapating, 66 years old, a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Tagabaca, Butuan City, after receiving medical assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

Adela expressed her gratitude for the smoother and more organized process of accessing aid, especially since the support came at a time when her family was facing a crisis. The financial assistance they received will be used to purchase medicine for her son-in-law, who is suffering from Movement Disorder and X-Linked Dystonia Parkinsonism.

“The process is much better now. If you arrive early, you’ll be accommodated early. Lining up isn’t a hassle anymore—once you fill out the forms, you just wait to be called. The staff are also kind and accommodating,” Adela shared.

She added, “This isn’t the first time we sought help from DSWD. In previous years, we also asked for assistance for my husband’s maintenance medication. But now, we prioritized my son-in-law who urgently needs medicine.”

Through the AICS program, DSWD Field Office Caraga continues to implement measures to make assistance more accessible and efficient for those who need it the most. The program aims to support individuals and families experiencing crisis or extreme hardship.

If you or someone you know is going through a crisis or in need of help, don’t hesitate to visit DSWD Caraga or the Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Offices in the provinces. We are ready to help.
